I want to start this by saying this is not the first time I have eaten at Driftaway Cafe.  The first time a friend and I sat at the bar, split a burger, and drank far more than we ate.  The second time I went in with a bunch of people for lunch and it was very good.  This time, however, really stands out.  It was around 6pm and I was starving.  Did not feel like cooking and the kids were hungry.  I piled everyone in the car and headed to Heiwa’s because I really wanted some sake and sushi.  We get to Heiwa’s and find that it is closed.  I look across the street and spy Driftaway and think, why not?   As soon as we walk in we are greeted with smiles and directed to where the hostess will be.  She was incredibly friendly and welcoming and hands my 5 year old some crayons and a coloring book before she even seats us.  We get to our table and are met by a super sweet waitress who looked happy to be at work.  I wish I had got her name, pretty girl, straight blonde hair, and seriously a wonderful person.  We ordered a couple of beers, the kid’s food, and some blackened tuna bites medium rare.  Shortly after,  the food arrived and it was cooked to perfection.  Perfect med rare!!  We ordered Firecracker Shrimp Tacos and a Greek Club for our entrees.  Absolutely delicious.  In fact, I just ate the rest of my club for lunch.  It was still awesome even after spending the night in the fridge.  I could go on and on about how great the food was because it was amazing BUT what I found to be the best part of this experience was the superb customer service.  This restaurant was BUSY!!!!  Yet everyone working had it together.  Other servers stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok and to smile at our baby.  The hostess checked back in with us.  And once again, I must commend our server.  She had a full section but was just as friendly and efficient as she could be.  When we were leaving the owner’s husband, who had no idea who I was, asked us how we enjoyed our meal.  I loved that.  These people who own this restaurant honestly care about their customers.  It shows in every aspect of their business.  I really want to thank you folks at Driftaway Cafe for a wonderful dinner.  We will be back soon and next time I will bring my camera so I can take some pics of your fantastic culinary creations and wonderful staff!
