It was Thursday before noon and as we walked into 5 Spot we were greeted with a smile by the lovely hostess. She quickly scooped out the restaurant to see if a table was available. Being lunch hour there was no table available. That left us with the option to sit next to the bar area in the high top tables or by the window looking out. I love my seats by the window and so she gladly lead us to the chairs. We were quickly approached by our waitress who took our drink order because this was going to be my first meal of the day I decided to have coffee and a glass of water.
5 Spot has two menus The Breakfast Menu served from 7am-11am and the Lunch/Dinner Menu from 11am – Close. The Breakfast menu has your top usual popular items, such as waffles, omelette, eggs Benedict and the 5 Spot which is their signature dish consisting of your traditional southern entrée with eggs, grits, and choice of meat. The lunch/dinner menu has the appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches. What caught my attention was the Eggs Rancheros ($7) it is two eggs, black beans, chorizo, avocado and pico de gallo. My mouth watered as soon as I read the entrée description, I decided then and there that I will have that as my meal. Another item that caught my attention was the steak tip with chili soup ($4 cup.) If it would have been a little later in the day I would have loved to try that but I guess it is something I will have to go back for.
